I have compiled and installed makemkv-1.16.3 from source in xbuntu-20.04, but it not running with message
Application failed to initialize
CANT_LOCATE_MAKEMKVCON
It is unexpectedly. Please, tell me in what the reason is and what I must do to correct the situation.

MakeMKV uses a separate program to talk to the disk during reading. The message is saying that it can't find that program. When you did the install, did you compile both? If you did, are they located in the same directory?

Where do you get the source for makemkvcon?

It should be included in the download; it's part of the package.

You don't get the source to makemkvcon, it's in the makemkv-bin tarball, which you need. The makemkv-oss tarball contains the source for the parts that are open-source, but you have to have both or MakeMKV won't work.
