I have a new Asus BC-12DHT with firmware version 3.00 - the drive was working beautifully for several months when ripping both BD and DVD. I just upgraded to MakeMKV v1.17 a few days ago and all of a sudden it won't even read the discs (BD or DVD). I let it sit overnight and the timers just kept ticking. See the attached screenshot of my latest DVD rip attempt.

I'm wondering if it's a problem with the new version? Or maybe something on my system. Anyway, just looking for some advise or maybe the previous version that I can build and install again...

PS - I know the LibreDrive mode is supposed to be awesome, but in my experience it has been much slower than the previous BD drive I had that didn't use LibreDrive mode. I'm not knocking it, but is there a way to switch it back to the previous mode for troubleshooting or performance?

likely a drive or disc problem the asus's do that alot with the infinite about of time remaining

Is there any way to fix it? Should I reflash the same version firmware, or is that unwise?

Clean the disc

I cleaned the disc with no luck. But I saw 1.17.1 was just released - after building and installing it I was able to actually load the disc in MakeMKV once again! The DVD I was working on is ripping now, I'll post later once I can do the BD as well.

For now it appears 1.17.1 was the fix!

1.17.1 was definitely the fix here. Both the DVD and BD I was failing to rip are now successfully ripped!
