SCSI errors

I first tried MakeMKV a couple months ago at version 1.4.11 and couldn't get past the authentication failure errors. My posts are in this thread. I just downloaded 1.5.6 hoping maybe I would be in luck. Unfortunately not. I seem to be getting the same error as before.

This same hardware works using AnyDVD HD under Windows in VirtualBox so I don't think the drive is bricked. Is there anything I can do?

I had a very similar error recently.

MakeMKV has been running wonderfully on my Linux x64 machine and has decrypted everything I've thrown at it. I recently updated to 1.5.6 and it got through three Blu-Rays but then started throwing the same style errors on mine. Specifically, the error with the SCSI commands and the "Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive" error. So, I thought it might be an issue with the disc (Firefly Disc 3) but thought that it wasn't likely that that particular disc would have a problem with authentication when the disc 1 and disc 2 from the same set worked beautifully. So, I threw disc 2 back in, which had worked perfectly instantly before, and it started throwing the same errors, even though nothing had changed.

Was about to rip out the drive and update the firmware on a Windows machine at work, but decided to back the software rev and try that. I only had the BIN and OSS for 1.5.1, so I reinstalled those, and it worked perfectly with Disc 3 now.

No, this is not an external drive. It's a SATA drive that identifies as "SUNEXT BDROM V8402BH98." I get these same errors when running as root.

Ouch, if 1.5.1 works and 1.5.6 don't then it's a clear problem with MakeMKV. Do you get the same error with windows version under virtualbox?

Not sure, as none of my home machines have run Windows since early 2002 (edit: just noticed that you responded to the original poster; my bad)

I'll pull the drive, and bring it up to a work machine with Windows on it and test it with 1.5.6.

I'll also throw the drive in my MacPro and see if it gives the errors or not.
