VLC integration on atomic distros (Bazzite)/Flatpak

Post by zahnfee »

Hey, so I would like to use the integration with VLC to watch my Blurays on demand. I'm not really a fan of having to splurge on a lot of storage, to always have my movies available in high quality.

I have both MakeMKV and VLC installed as a Flatpak, because that's what's most convenient on Bazzite. But because of the containerization, MakeMKV obviously can't find the VLC installation and
therefore, cannot act as the decryption engine. How do I get around this? Or is it just not really feasible because it would circumvent the whole point of using Flatpaks in the first place?
I also don't want to layer both packages on top of the system.

I'm open to other solutions, if they are straight forward and error resistant. My times of dicking around with the system every single time before I can get something done are over, I'm afraid. I just want to watch a movie.
Thanks.
