X11 Forwarding with Xming Broken

I ran into the same issue that I found for another X11 app, which is X11 forwarding didn't work over SSH with MakeMKV when using Xming as a display server. The error message returned was similar to the following:

failed to get the current screen resources
The X11 connection broke: I/O error (code 1)
XIO:  fatal IO error 2 (No such file or directory) on X server ":0"
      after 349 requests (349 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

In the end I followed the advice of switching away from Xming to something else like VcXsrv, which then worked flawlessly. Apparently the free version of Xming hasn't been updated in over 14 years and costs £10 to get a newer version.

Fyi: I just posted this in case anyone else runs into the same issue.
