Hi all,
So I got my first UHD 4k bluray a few weeks ago, and ordered an external drive, a verbatim uhd 4k drive.
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Bus Encryption Flags: 17
It came with firmware 1.05. I did some reading and ended flashing 1.03-MK as that seemed to be what everyone was recommending, even though 1.04-MK seems to also be available. I guess I could have flashed 1.04-MK.
Anyway, libredrive info now reports:
Status: Enabled
Drive Platform: MT1959
Firmware Type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 1.03
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata red: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
Now, my problem is that I really wanted to watch this bluray. I've downloaded rips from the web because I couldnt hold back anymore, but I bought my own copy because well, I want to support authors mostly. bd_info says:
AACS detected: yes
libaacs detected: yes
Disc ID: 261D902296E398F21E4DCFB07F13513A04F63C05
AACS MKB version: 77
AACS handled: no (no matching processing key)
BD+ detected: no
So according to my research, now I need the VUK for this disk, because that's the only thing that's going to let me play it at this point, right? I've found FindVuk, but it seems that I'd need to be running Windows - I assume it doesn't run well under Wine, because there's Vukextract, but https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php? ... ost1889925 indicates that VukExtract no longer works for this purpose, and that I need FindVuk+Windows?
Question: If I had MakeMkv (which ofc, as we know, a new key hasnt been released yet, perhaps Mr. Mike is on holidays atm - we all certainly deserve it - and we just need to wait), could I use it to just rip the blu-ray with my current setup, and not have to care about the Vuk at all? Or does Makemkv take care of all that on its own?
Thank you for reading, and I appreciate any inputs
