Without additional information, it is impossible to assist. MakeMKV will generally extract any subtitle tracks on the disk, regardless of the operating system. At least a log of what is happening will be necessary.

Thanks for your interest. I must point out that there is no error. The program cloned the DVD for me, while I only wanted to extract a track of the subtitles to be able to edit it in my language. I believed that with this program it could be done (but obviously I was wrong). Can you confirm that it is not possible? If so, I will look for another program (if it exists). Thanks. Best regards

MakeMKV itself will not separate out the subtitle track, but there are a number of tools that will. An example would be mkvtoolnix, which can break an MKV file down into individual tracks, as well as reassemble the file with new contents, such as a revised subtitle track.

The issue is that a subtitle found in a commercial disk will not generally be in SRT format. It will usually be easier to find an SRT subtitle in Italian or other language on-line for most commercial disks.

MakeMKV stesso non separerà la traccia dei sottotitoli, ma ci sono una serie di strumenti che lo fanno. Un esempio potrebbe essere mkvtoolnix, che può suddividere un file MKV in singole tracce, nonché riassemblare il file con nuovi contenuti, come una traccia di sottotitoli rivista.

Il problema è che un sottotitolo trovato in un disco commerciale generalmente non sarà in formato SRT. Di solito sarà più semplice trovare on-line un sottotitolo SRT in italiano o in un'altra lingua per la maggior parte dei dischi commerciali.

Ciao.Hai ragione:sono diventato matto fino ad oggi per scaricare un programma per l'estrazione dei sottotitoli,ma non ci sono riuscito.Ho provato anche da Terminale ma mi dice che si può fare solo tra testo/testo e fra bitmap/bitmap.Mi arrendo e farò come suggerisci.Scarico i sottotitoli in inglese o francese e poi li traduco in Italiano.Come aggiungerli nel video,come hardsub,sono capace.Meglio una traduzione non precisa,che niente traduzione. Grazie.Credo non si possa dire risolta questa discussione,dato che non ho trovato il modo di estrarre "solo" i sottotitoli(senza il video).Tu che dici?

With the MKV file format, you do not have to put the subtitles into the video, but that may be the simplest for playback. You can also include them as an SRT file, and mark that as the default subtitle to display, using mkvtoolnix. Adding them to the video ("burning them in") is generally more work, but simpler if you are only going to have certain people watch it.

If you wish to use the MP4 format, though, burning the subtitles in is pretty much required, as MP4 files use a different format for subtitles.

Con il formato file MKV, non è necessario inserire i sottotitoli nel video, ma potrebbe essere la soluzione più semplice per la riproduzione. Siccome dovrò usare un lettore DVD per vederli sulla TV,mp4 non è supportato.Dovrò trasformare il video in .mpg con l'app Curlew che può incorporare i sottotitoli in modo Hard:tanto i filmati li vedrò solo io.Ho visto che la traduzione da Inglese a Italiano è quasi perfetta.Peccato che dovrò variare la lunghezza di diversi sottotitoli dato che la loro durata è breve:mi ruberà molto tempo,dato che io non sono un esperto,ma pazienza.Riassumendo:estraggo dal DVD solo il video e l'audio.Il nuovo file.mkv,lo trasformo con Curlew aggiungendo il file:srt(cambiato prima in .ass da terminale perchè Curlew non sopporta .srt)in .mpg e la riuscita è garantita.Speriamo che i sottotitoli siano sincronizzati per non farmi perdere ulteriore tempo.Ciao

Since I will have to use a DVD player to watch them on TV, mp4 is not supported. I will have to transform the video into .mpg with the Curlew app which can embed subtitles in a Hard way: anyway only I will see the videos. I saw that the translation from English to Italian is almost perfect. Too bad I will have to vary the length of different subtitles since their duration is short: it will take up a lot of my time, since I'm not an expert, but never mind. In summary: I extract only the video from the DVD and the audio. I transform the new .mkv file with Curlew by adding the file: srt (first changed to .ass from the terminal because Curlew doesn't support .srt) into .mpg and success is guaranteed. Let's hope that the subtitles are synchronized for Don't make me waste any more time. Bye
