Hey,
I installed makeMKV via flatpak, and have been using it successfully for months, until I tried to rip terminator in 4k recently.
For some reason, there's still no hashed key available, so I downloaded the latest keydb.cfg, renamed it to KEYDB.CFG, and placed it in /home/[username]/.MakeMKV/
Despite that, makemkv doesn't seem to be able to read KEYDB.CFG, and still cannot rip my copy of terminator.
Any suggestions?
(if it helps, the name of the dump I get is MKB20_v77_THE_TERMINATOR_1984_C3D9.tgz, I can email it in if need be, although I'm pretty sure I saw a handful of posts from people already submitting their's.)
Flatpak can't seem to check keydb.cfg?

I think the file should be named KEYDB.cfg on case sensitive file systems.
As separate question, does MakeMKV indicate it is trying to download the latest HKs? Does it indicate success or failure?

Sorry, I used capslock when typing it, but it is labelled KEYDB.cfg. I've also tried various capitalization combinations.dcoke22 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 8:55 pmhttps://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=162444#p162444

It doesn't say that every time, but sometimes the console does say it is downloading the latest HKs - I also have preferences set to allow internet access.
Re: Flatpak can't seem to check keydb.cfg?
If your system is successfully downloading new HKs, then you need to submit your dump for processing. Email it to svq@makemkv.com. It doesn't hurt if a dump is submitted more than once.
Additionally, there are other steps to take to submit to the public KeyDB.

Re: Flatpak can't seem to check keydb.cfg?
Evidently, despite people submitting dumps for it, it wasn't in the public keydb.cfg.
I can only assume there are multiple versions floating around. Thanks for the reminder to submit the dump.
