I then mounted the Blu-Ray and attempted to load the files directly by going into the mounted directory, then into the "AACS" subdirectory, then selected "MKB_RO.inf."
This is the output I get at that point:

As you can see, there are lots of errors once again, then another failure.
btw...I discovered the source of the problem in XP, which is that XP lacks a UDF 2.5 driver, so -- taking the advice of those who told me that -- I installed AnyDVDHD in XP, running it in the background, and MakeMKV now does all that it should in that operating system.
However, I strongly dislike XP, and I only use it when there is no other way to accomplish something in Linux.
I am running kernel version 3.1.1, custom configured for my system and compiled by me, and I checked, and sure enough, Linux for quite some time now has UDF 2.6 support, so I know it's not the kernel, and (yes) I definitely have UDF support compiled in.
I'm wondering if my drive (LG GGW-H20L, with the last firmware available, version YL07) could be problematic, but the fact that it works in XP with a kludge of a workaround eliminates that possibility.
Sure is a strange problem.
Thanks for your efforts up to this point.
