I'm new here. Does this look like copy protection?

MakeMKV v1.7.4 win(x86-release) started

False alarm, seems OK after a reboot. Maybe a clash with DVDFab

I spoke too soon. Is there anything I can do about this? I tried increasing the retries.

This is not a MakeMKV issue. Your drive can not read the disc.

Try cleaning the disc, it may be dirty. If that does not work then exchange the disc for a new one.

I wondered about that but the disk looks perfect and I managed to rip it with DVDFab.

Code: Select all

Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:NO SEEK COMPLETE' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/50232.m2ts' at offset '4294205440'
That's a message from your controller. The drive can't seek on the disc.

You don't have to believe me, I'm just telling you what it says.

I wasn't calling you a liar :)
It just seems odd that it works every time with other software but never with MakeMKV. Perhaps it's reading more of the disk or something.

It's possible that DVDfab skips sectors it can't read on blu-ray discs, I know it does on DVD's.

Either way, swap the disc for a new one.

I've been running into this exact same error, but I really don't think it's a problem with a specific disc or with my drive. My drive works fine on ALL other blu-ray discs I've ripped, but with three different Pirates of the Caribbean discs now it's given this error and not completed the rip. These were three different blu-ray discs with three different movies on them. Is it possible this "Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:NO SEEK COMPLETE'" error is actually the result of a particular encryption that Disney is using on those disks that's just not supported by MakeMKV yet?

I have the same error. It totally makes no sense. I am currently ripping Dragon Ball Z Kai, so this disc has 9 episodes...it rips the first 7..and then no. It cannot rip either episode 8 or episode 9.
I don't get it...I have tried, Xilisoft Blu-Ray ripper & Aurora Blu-Ray Copy and they don't work either.

I doubt there is an answer for these posts. :(
