I have about 40 3D blurays. I would like to rip them to video files that I can load or stream onto my OculusVR headset so I can watch them in 3D in the headset.
I have some video files that play in 3D on the headset already but I didn't rip them from disc. I think they are MP4 files.
To rip the movie to a 3D movie file, do I have to have a 3D player? Or can I use an ordinary 2D player?
I don't want to rip them to another Blu-ray disk so don't need a Blu-ray writer.
I only have a DVD player in my PC at the moment. Will an external Blu-ray player work OK?

The 3D information is just another part of the video; MakeMKV will rip it if you ask it to (it doesn't normally). The Bluray drive does not have to have "3D capability".
Playback... You probably should read the several topics already around about what software can read MVC (the 3D track) in an MKV file.
