Recreating 3D disc from makemkv backup

#1 Post by gonca » Mon Aug 10, 2020 9:57 am

Does anyone know of a utility that recreates the SSIF from SMAP
Not a coder so I can't write one myself
Would be useful for full disc backup

I have the same question. Have you found an answer yourself?

Not really
You can try BD_RB and see if it works

Gonca,

Thanks for you earlier suggestions to try out BD_RB.

BD_Rebuilder was indeed able to successfully re-create a working 3D BDMV structure and also a 3D ISO version that both played correctly in my player including all of the original 3D BD menus.

The 3D BDMV structure is different to the original as BD_RB does away without the missing .ssif (and therefore there is no /SSIF folder under /STREAM) but the outcome is very satisfactory nonetheless..

The drawback will be that the process took 50minutes (with no-re encoding since I tagetted a BD-50) whereas a different solution to "re-constitue" the original .ssif may till be faster. However I am still looking for this other solution so in the meantime I will be using BD_RB to "Recover" the 3D BDMV structures that were not playing in my media player (OPPO UDP-203).

Thank you for your help . Much appreciated.

Glad it worked
If you find a better solution let me know
Maybe Mike, MakeMKV developer, will code a utility one day

I'd like to give BD_RB a try, but it looks to have a bit of a learning curve. The notes say it's faster working from the hard drive, so my question is, if I use MakeMKV to back up my 3D Blu-ray Disc to the hard drive, can BD_RB put it onto a blank BD disc provided it has enough space? Trying to figure out the most efficient process with out too much trial and error.
