This is my first try at 3D. I am trying to create a 3D rip of the Avatar 3D blu-ray.
I am copying the Avatar - 36 chapter(s) , 44.9 GB 00001.m2ts stream. have Video Mpeg4-MVC-3D checked along with Audio DTS-HD MA Surround 5.1 English and DTS Surround 5.1 English. Everything else is unchecked.
My drive is a Pioneer BDR-XD07J-UHD and my PC is an Intel NUC. The rip completes and I have a perfect 42.2GB 2D mkv copy. The same thing happens if I choose the 00002.m2ts Avatar - 1 chapter(s) , 44.9 GB stream.
Why am I not getting a 3D rip?
Thanks,
Martin

Re: Avatar 3D Problems
I tried Gravity 3D and got the same result - a perfect 2D copy. I am using MakeMKV v 1.14.2.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Martin

Re: Avatar 3D Problems
I think these are correctly being ripped in 3D and I'm having issues with playback.

Re: Avatar 3D Problems
I am so glad this is alive! I have the same problem with both of those movies and then some. I dug up bunch of my old 3D Blu-rays as well and got myself an nvidia shield and a snology ds918+. My TV is an LG OLED656CP and I have 2 movies that have been ripped along time ago God knows with what but they work fine with Plex and Emby (Rogue One and Assassin's Creed). Unfortunately, I have ripped Avatar, gravity, clash of the titans with no luck so far. I thought maybe it was plex then I installed emby and I am getting the same results. Any guidance would be appreciated it! Thanks in advance!
Re: Avatar 3D Problems
I would bet that those older 3D rips are SBS half-HD and not frame packed full-HD. I'd like to keep the full-HD quality of the original. So far I have not found a combination that will play them as 3D on my LeEco Umax85. The TV has a 3D setting with choices of SBS, T&B and Auto. I do have an Xbox One X and a Philips UHD Blu-ray player. None of these will correctly play a frame packed full-HD 3D mkv. They do however, play SBS half-HD 3D.HookedonHD wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 4:21 amI am so glad this is alive! I have the same problem with both of those movies and then some. I used BD3D2MK3D to reencode my MakeMKV MVC 3D rips into SBS mkv files. Below is what MediaInfo reports for each file. The amazing thing is the SBS reencoded version is 14.1GB while the original frame packed version is 44.3GB. Quality looks pretty good to my eyes.

Re: Avatar 3D Problems
Weird I didn't get an email notification for your reply. Anyways, that's awesome! I just downloaded that program and I am going to give it a shot as soon as my workstation is free. Did you try using handshake or anything to make the file even smaller by any chance? I have an atmos setup however, I noticed most of these movies are like 5.1 so, I was wondering if there is a way of keep the quality with the sound and shrink the file size to a much smaller size and keep the integrity? Thanks in advance!
