I am setting up my Plex server and am new to the MKV thing. I have not found this listed so thought I would ask for the BEST drive to get money no issue etc.

Pioneer drives are held in high regard. Unfortunately, modern Pioneer firmware isn't supported by MakeMKV. If you buy a Pioneer drive at your favorite retailer, you'll undoubtedly get one with too new of firmware that won't support LibreDrive and thus won't support ripping 4K UHDs.
However, there are sellers that can get drives with old, compatible firmware. In the US, Billycar11 is a seller that can get Pioneer drives.

ASUS BW-16D1HT-more have been sold and are still in use since 2018 than any others. Get em before their guts are replaced.
