Ordered a BDR-S13UBK to replace yet another drive that went tits up and so far so good. I put it into an OWC case with slight modification and it happily ripped a known good UHD disc without issue. Honestly have to say I’ve never in all my years of working with computers heard a drive this quiet. If it wasn’t for the light on the front and the progress bar in MakeMKV, I wouldn’t know it was active! It isn’t the speediest thing, but as long as this thing is more reliable than my other drives, I’ll be a happy camper.

Help me understand you, Are you saying that you have only drives that rip BD100 @ 1hr 35min? or are you saying that there is no drive that can rip BD100 faster than 1hr 35min? From one of your previous posts you wrote:

When I asked you what 4x translates to in terms of time and gave you 3 speeds for ripping BD100, your answer was more confusing, you said:

All Pioneer drives rip UHD at max 4x speed. LG external slim drives rip UHD at max 6x speed. Some LG desktop drives that are flashed to WH16NS60 firmware can reach speeds of 8x for UHD but they do not maintain this speed for very long. Most of a rip would be between 4x - 6x with some short increases to 8x.

Be aware that for UHD, Pioneer drives are recommended as they read slower (which is better for UHD, means much greater chance of a successful rip) and are far more reliable than any LG/ASUS drive.

Ripping UHD at 4x, for BD100 discs, expect around 1hr15mins to 1hr40mins depending on the amount of data on the disc. BD66 are usually around 50mins - 65mins, again depending on the amount of data on the disc.

Thanks MartyMcNuts, it's more clear now. So will be looking for a Pioneer desktop unit as I like to have the tray closed from the computer.
