I purchased an S13-UBK from Billy. Thank you very much for the very quick help, for the answers and of course for the fast delivery. The drive itself is quiet and fast. Reading UHD discs also worked without any problems.

I got the drive from Billy super fast after ordering it and when it works it rips (and burns) discs perfectly.

However, I don't know if there is an issue with the drive or with the firmware, but any software in Windows (10) that scans to see the available optical drives will fairly often (33% of the time or so) lock up. It happens with MakeMKV, Imgburn, even EAC and it doesn't matter if there is a disc inside the drive or not. This is not something that has ever happened with any of my previous Plextor, Pioneer, LG, Asus, or Lite-On drives and every time there is a drive cycle (ie eject) it runs the risk of locking up. The only solution is to restart Windows because even if I force stop the software the drive (and any software that scans available drives) remains unusable until the reboot occurs.

Billy has been great trying to help me back and forth but unfortunately I'm out the $274 for what is essentially a coaster and I've had to go back to using my old Asus.

Just wanted to provide an update. Billy took the drive back, did some testing and discovered there was nothing wrong with the drive. However, he agreed to send me a new one as a replacement. I've ripped every kind of image on every type of disc and I've burned a ton of discs and haven't had a single issue. So it was truly the drive, but now I'm going strong.

I'm a bit miffed that I was on the hook for an additional $57 to get the replacement drive when it was actually defective, but I guess if he couldn't replicate the errors I didn't have any standing. It just turned out to be a very, VERY expensive drive to replace my $75 LG that had no issues.

i can confirm that drive you sent back had no issues i tested every scenario you stated and it never once acted up there was 3 days worth of testing on it.

I cannot get past disc one using my S13J/E/U-X. Did you do anything to the disc? I tried everything.

Another satisfied customer from Billy! I purchased the PIONEER BDR-213T from him and happy to report that I was able to rip 3 4K discs without an issue. For those that are on the fence as I was, yes it's a little pricy especially after you need to buy an external enclosure, but when you don't have to worry about firmware versions or if a drive you buy is going to work, it's well worth it knowing you can finally rip 4K discs to your library. I, too, am yet another satisfied customer. Purchased a Pioneer BDR-S13UBK which arrived today. Once installed everything worked. I am just starting my 4K library but i was able to effortlessly rip a UHD disc and playback in VLC and Plex. Also have been ripping dvd and Blurays without issue.

I just received the Pioneer S13UBK disc drive that I purchased from Billy. As recommended for my Macbook Pro set up, I had also ordered the Vantec NexStar DX2 External Enclosure. I put the two together and fired up MakeMKV and it all works like a charm. Getting good updated equipment along with a skillset/service (that I don't have myself) is not going to be cheap. After my previous unit's lifecycle ended recently, I knew I wasn't finished purchasing 4K content and wanting to save them to MKV files, so having worked with Billy before, I had no hesitation with asking him some questions and then committing to a new purchase. Like the slogan from an old insurance company's advertisement states: "you're in good hands" with Billy.

I bought a Pioneer BDR-S13UBK from Billy and I wanted to let everyone know that it is working great. I did this because I had gotten an LG WP50NB40 from Amazon to try my hand at ripping, and it worked pretty well, but there were two disks I just couldn't get to rip. After doing some research I learned that many consider these Pioneer drives to be better so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I have been using the drive for about a week now and it has been flawless. It worked on both disks I was having trouble with, as well as several others I've tried. I think it was the right decision.

Also, I want to thank Billy for being really easy to work with over email and the drive was shipped to me shockingly fast! I really appreciate it.

Purchased 9 Pioneer BDR-S13UBK from Billy. Also have a lg whs16h40 that he had helped me flash along time ago and a couple usb drives I got from him also. He has done some great work here. I had the unfortunate power surge that killed my data. So now I am re-ripping all my movies and I’ll tell you there are a lot. But currently doing 9 movies and one cd at a time is amazing!
