I have two Blueray Drives,
A very old Hp DVDWBD TS-LB23L drive and a new HL-DT-ST BD-RE BU50N drive. I had inconsistent results on the HL-DT-ST Product: BD-RE BU50N until I loaded the libredrive firmware, but now that drive rips great. I'm trying to locate the correct firmware for the Hp DVDWBD TS-LB23L drive, that one is still giving me trouble and I want to see if I can get that one working by loading the libredrive firmware. I know it won't read UHD disks, but I can still use it to rip regular bluray disks.
MakeMKV drive information below:

Nope, don't believe there's anything for that old HP. It should rip blu-ray discs fine. If you are having issues, it has nothing to do with LibreDrive and is more likely to be the lasers. Have you tried cleaning them?deamon_k wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2026 1:24 amI have two Blueray Drives,

Re: Flashing LibreDrives
Not really sure if it's related but my brand new ASUS BC-12D2HT wasn't able to rip a regular blu-ray on Linux (MakeMKV 1.18.3) until I flashed it with MK firmware. (I don't remember what was the exact response but I think MakeMKV just sort of hang/loop indefinitely when attempt to "parse" the disc and get ready. I think the disc eventually stopped spinning after a while.) I have only tested with one disc released in 2019 though and it's the first and only disc inserted into the drive ever so far.
I thought it was "expected" but was it not?

Re: Flashing LibreDrives
You know you should let the OS initialise the disc and see it in explorer or whatever Linux has before opening up MakeMKV.tomty89 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2026 2:51 amNot really sure if it's related but my brand new ASUS BC-12D2HT wasn't able to rip a regular blu-ray on Linux (MakeMKV 1.18.3) until I flashed it with MK firmware. Re: Flashing LibreDrives
The OS had no problem initialize it. It was just MakeMKV. IIRC I tried both having MakeMKV started first or otherwise. I actually tried many times before flashing the drive (because for reasons I wanted to make a rip of that particular BD before MK-ising the drive but eventually I gave up because of this) so I'm pretty sure the MK firmware did cause the difference. I'm just not sure what's the exact "reason" behind the scene. (FWIW the original firmware was one version newer than the MK one IIRC. The drive was probably from like a last batch of the model.)
(Also as per my mileage with my old Pioneer BDR-S08XLT, starting MakeMKV after "the OS has initialized the disc" often results in a hang, while I don't remember that has ever happened if I start MakeMKV before inserting a disc.)
