Drive Worked Once

I bought an LG WH16NS40 flashed with LG WH16NS60. After installing in my Linux box I tried it out with a BluRay disk and it worked fine. MakeMKV was able to rip the disk, and VLC was able to directly play content from the disc. Then while playing the start of each menu item in VLC to match with ripped tracks, it stopped responding, with similar symptoms as the Sleep Bug described in the Flashing Guide. Since then it can read DVDs fine but no BluRays. The disc spins for a while when I start MakeMKV then it stops and says "No disc". In VLC it keeps trying forever with no errors. I don't see any errors in system logs (dmesg or journalctl). Rebooting does not help.

Has anyone run into something like this? Might reflashing help?

Also I noticed the guide mentioned that for linux "the latest working version is 1.17.7 of makemkv for flashing". This only applies for performing the flash; it is safe to use 1.18.2 with a flashed drive, correct?

Shutting down and letting it sit for a few minutes instead of just rebooting resolved the issue.

Just one of the joys of having a LG or Asus rebrand drive.

Pioneers don't do this
