Since the drive platform is MT1939, it is too old to be upgraded with firmware to support
LibreDrive. If you try, you'll end up bricking your drive.

If you really only have 30-ish discs that won't rip on your current drive, it is probably worth seeing it any of your friends or family have an optical drive gathering dust in a closet you can borrow.
If you want to buy one, Pioneer drives are considered the best. Unfortunately, Pioneer has gotten out of the business of making optical drives. Any
Pioneer drive with firmware from December 2022 or later will not support LibreDrive currently. Eventually
all Pioneer drives will be supported.
Outside of Pioneer drives, the LG BU40N was considered one of the better drives available. The Verbatim 43888 optical drive comes with a BU40N inside of it. There are several brands that sell a drive that's just a repackaged LG BU40N. Like all LG drives, it'll have to flashed to support LibreDrive.
Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide
After the BU40N, it doesn't really matter. Around 2020, quality control for optical drives took a nose dive. The flashing guide has a list of drives that can work. If you go this route, buy whichever one you can find that's the cheapest and buy it from a place with a decent return policy since the drive might arrive DOA.

If it is SVC NB50 or NB52 on the label underneath the drive (or on side of box) it can also be flashed to enable libredrive and UHD readability.

I keep getting failed on normal blu ray- it’s right out of the box though. And some regular DVD as well. I know it is nb52 and made March 2025

Clean the disc. See if that helps.
