Good morning,
I am taking the liberty of writing to you because I want to install libredrive on VERBATIM 43888. I saw in the Amazon comments someone say that it is running on firmware 1.4 and that it would be libredrive compatible.
On the forum, I saw that it would be possible to switch it to LibreDrive.
But I can't find any firmware and method to do it.
Anyone to help me?
If it is not possible to install libredrive, recommend which external drive for 4K UDH blu-ray burner and playback?
I speak bad English, I have to use Google translate. I am French.
Thank you in advance.

I have the same drive with firmware version 1.14 and LibreDrive is already enabled. You should see the following in MakeMKV on the right.
Code: Select all
LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled

Best install and post your Makemkv information for your drive. Someone can then advise on the way forward.

If it is a Verbatim 43888 it is already libredive and UHD compatible. And firmware is 1.14 not 1.4.

Hello,
Yes indeed I was mistaken. It is indeed version 1.14.
When you say it is already libtedrive, does that mean I only use the MakeMKV software without installing custom firmware?
Thanks

Put an UHD in it. Should work w/o any problem.

Sure enough, I'm ripping a blu-ray. Speed X4 17.1 M/S. It takes me about three hours for 88 GB. Is that a good speed?
Once the .MKV file is finished, I could play it with any player, correct?
Also, with the extraction, I get the menus and everything that goes with it?
Loss of quality?
MakeMKV, allows you to extract only blu-rays or DVDs and CDs while removing the DRM?
Thank you for your answers.

With the Verbatim (Pioneer inside), for a 90GB UHD disc, ripping the full disc to a decrypted folder usually takes around 1hr30min give or take a few.
DVD/BD, yes, pretty much any player. UHD movies require a player capable of HDR.
If you create a full disc folder backup, it includes everything. If you rip to a mkv file, then you only get whatever titles you have selected as individual mkv files.
No loss of quality. MakeMKV is not an encoder. It just decrypts and extracts.
DVD/BD/UHD (with a compatible drive)
