It seems to be spinning really fast and is too noisy for playing films. I understand it should be fast for ripping but it still seems to be spinning as fast as possible, even when it's not needed. Is it because it's been flashed with libre drive because my other bluray drive that is totally factory spins fast initially then slows down to a whisper
Thanks for any help. Cheers

You can slow it down with speed control but I would not recommend it libredrive does not make it spin faster unless you enabled speed control in your registry. And the bu40n can't go faster only slower.
But if you want a quiet drive the drive to get is a pioneer s13ubk or ux.

You would need to buy a Pioneer drive from a seller to get one with the correct firmware to be LibreDrive enabled.
Also, MakeMKV can be used with more than one drive, even at the same time. Just turn on 'ask for single drive mode' in preferences. Then you can launch multiple instances of MakeMKV and 'lock' each one to specific drive. It is handy for ingesting a big stack of discs.
