Code: Select all

Firmware date: 2011-08-09 12:34:56
Doubtful it would be of interest to update it. A drive that old is 5 years before UHD, so it would not gain any functionality over reading Blurays. Yours is actually 2 years newer than my drive in this computer.

But, like mine, you can use a USB drive to do newer disks, if you intend to. I've got newer drives I could put in this if I needed to, but I do ripping with a different computer, so I haven't bothered.

Apparently nordstrom3025 and I both cleaned our garages this weekend. I found this drive in a bunch of stuff I'm throwing out.

Can I take from your comment this drive won't work for UHD? Toss it and buy a pre flashed drive? Apologies if noon question. I got out of the physical media game when Netflix came 'round. Would like to get back into it.

The drive will probably work for DVDs and regular blu-rays, even thought it won't work for UHDs. MakeMKV is pretty good and working with a wide range of optical drives. MakeMKV can work with multiple drives, even at the same time (turn on 'ask for single drive mode' in preferences).
