Hi all,
I’m currently looking for a new external Blu-Ray drive so that I can rip my Blu-Rays. It doesn’t have to be a UHD one as o don’t own any of those.
My current drive which is: BD-RW BDR-XD05
Full info:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-XD05
Revision: 3.10
Firmware date: 2017-06-22
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 76
LibreDrive Information
status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8232
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-XD05
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 3.10/ID34
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to work anymore
Is it just too old? Is it fixable?
If anyone has any suggestions for any fixes that would be great but if not I’m looking for some suggestions for some a drive that does work.
Thanks

Not sure if you are able to repair what you already have, but if not then I would suggest the Pioneer XS07UHD external - Look for Manufacture date of January 2022, anything after that and it's a toss up unless you ask the seller to check the firmware. The reason I suggest that one is because it's built like a tank and the quality is unmatched, you really get what you pay for with that drive. Best bet, ask around on ebay or Amazon and find someone that has old stock... It will save you $$$ vs buying from a seller here for $100 more than it's worth. Or if you prefer internal and you wanna save money look for an ASUS BW-16D1HT and downgrade the firmware.
