Flashed UHD-Friendly Drive Still Won't Read UHD Discs.

Post by WinterholdLoremaster »

Hello everyone, and thank you for everything that you do. This is an incredible community!

I was hoping someone might be able to help me with an issue I'm having with a drive I recently flashed. It's an HL-DT-ST BP50NB40 (NB50) in a micro-USB enclosure. I followed the guide and used the tools from here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22896 and got the firmware file from the all-you-need firmware pack on this post: viewtopic.php?t=19634. The drive flashed properly, as far as I can tell. There were no errors, anyway. And as you can see from the screenshot below, MakeMKV acknowledges that the drive's running patched firmware and Libredrive is enabled. However, I've tried two different UHD discs in the drive and it behaves the same as it did before flashing- it spins the disc up for several minutes but does not recognize it as anything.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could try? I'm not sure what's gone wrong.

Ugh, I can't believe I missed that.

Well, thanks Billy- the bp60nb1 firmware worked like a charm.

Thanks again for all you do~

I was having the same issue thinking that I had an NB50 drive, but there was an NB52 code on the side of the box. Live and learn!

Do I need to use the command-line to flash to the HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP60NB10-1.02-NM00800-212005070935.bin version firmware from where I am now?

Hello

I have just acquired the same drive (NB50 version). Flashed it to 1.03 and noticed it would not read UHD disks.
Found this post and then changed the FW to the BP60NB10 but I am still getting no read, well slightly different, MKV just stops and says no disk inserted after about 3 mins of it trying to read the disc.

The FW version in the download zip is 1.02 but in the guide it mentions 1.00.... could that be the issue and if so where would i get the 1.00 to flash to my drive please?

or is there something else i need to do?

Blurays work fine in the drive, just in case you needed to know.

thanks in advance
