Need assistance Asus BW-16D1HT

Post by Fu2chN »

Hi, I recently bought a BD player thinking I could easily patch it, but I ran into a little problem.
The chip is an MT1939 and I understood that it needed an MT1959 (Redfox forum).

I hope I misunderstood and that the MT1939 can also be patched.

Thank you for your help.

To do anything above Bluray, you need a drive that was manufactured after 2015; your drive was manufactured 2 years before that. And the MT1939 processor locks that in place.

You can read Bluray disks with it (no patching necessary), but NOT UHD.

Ok, That is what I thought. The label on the reader indicates a manufacture in January 2022. :/

Either the sticker is a lie or someone found a bunch of old chips and decided to make 'new' drives out of them. If you can return the drive, you should.

How do you know? I have an ASUS external drive that I bought from Micro Center. I'm curious how to tell a fraud vs a real one.

It could also be a refurbished once from Asus I don't see why someone would fake these

I was able to proceed to a return even if the seller didn't want him. I bought another one and the chip was good, the patch was applied without a problem.

You have to be lucky once in a while. I would have believed you never see the money for this drive again.
