I was ripping my 8 part Harry Potter 4K discs this morning, did 6 w/o problem. Popped the 7th one in and after spinning it up, MakeMKV shows "no disk". Figured maybe the disk was bad (just opened the package), so tried disk 8 - same issue... Went back and tried Disc 6 - same "no disk" and then again, disc one. no change. Threw in DVD in, that worked, but a Bluray failed. Device Manager is showing the drive as a DVD/CD. makeMKV reports the drive as below.
I hadn't done any updates recently (certainly not between ripping disc 6 & 7). I did see an update to be applied when I rebooted the system after this failure and I let that go. I also updated MakeMKV to latest release (1.17.2) on windows 10. Anyone with ideas?

Give the drive full shutdown for a min not just a restart.
After that if it don't come back try cleaning it after that it's dead

Billy means a cleaning of the laser lens. Use a CD cleaning disc. If it doesn't work your BD laser is dead and you need a replacement drive.

sounds bleak; bummer drive was only installed back in February. Maybe have to reach out to Billy... I think I have a cleaning disc someplace, will give that a shot.

Billy is also a seller and always states that LG 5,25" drives are low quality. I also had one that died after 1 year.
