I just bought a brand new LG WH14NS40 drive and flashed it with the recommended WH16NS60 firmware using the tools posted in this forum.

I ripped a handful of movies successfully after doing so. Now, though, anytime I insert a Blu-ray movie, it says "No disc" in both MakeMKV and in Windows. When I insert a DVD, it recognizes it.

Anyone know how this could happen?

This is the info MakeMKV shows:

Shutdown the drive for a few mins by turning off PC or flipping power switch on USB case It should come back to life

Thanks, it did come back to life after fully turning off my PC. Any idea why this happens?

The operating system stopped talking to the hardware. When that happens, you have to reset the hardware to have the operating system re-scan for it.

With USB, that happens every time you plug/unplug, EXCEPT when the USB hardware on the computer motherboard gets scrambled.

Then you have to reset the motherboard... which, in the old days, you could shut down and press the RESET button, but few computers have one of those anymore. Which means powering off the board (not just hibernating or sleeping).
