Same here mate.

I´ve got the labeled as Verbatim Pioneer BD-RW-BDR-UD3 Rev 1.11 that works with almost every single BluRay.

Some days ago i´ve bought the same as UHD for my 4k discs.. Pioneer BD-RW BDR-UD04 Rev 1.14 and this thing isn´t doing the job.
It can´t even rip some normal Blurays. So for me it´s a downgrade sadly. And when i try 4k´s it pops me the message ILLEGAL REQUEST and stuff like that..

Guess i will refund the UD4 or is there any solution? Sometimes old stuff works better..

Greetings
Jeff

Is it worth upgrading from a 212UBK to a S13U-X for about $150? Seems to include a few extra features, but supports same discs and writes a few just a bit faster.

From a MakeMKV perspective, I don't think the S13U-X will offer much over a 212UBK. Your money is probably better spent buying a license to MakeMKV if you don't have one, buying more movies, or buying more hard drive space to store all the movies. :)

Please add support for the BDR-UD04TBD

I've seen the other comments saying to send you a firmware dump but I don't know how

The process is described in this post: viewtopic.php?p=129189#p129189

The short version is MakeMKV automatically creates a file and you email it in.

I post this elsewhere. The January Mac update of Ventura from 13.1 to 13.2 is not compatible with Pioneer drives. They don't work at all after the update.

I have three Macs and one of them hasn't updated. I tried my Pioneer BDR-XS06 and XS07 UHD on the Ventura 13.1 Mac and it works fine.

I have a Mac Mini (M1 chip) and an iMac 2020 (intel) both with Ventura 13.2 and the Pioneer drive doesn't work. The two Macs with 13.2 have bricked the Pioneers for now. I talked with Pioneer tech support and Apple. most of yesterday afternoon and Pioneer is aware of it and working on a fix. Apple is not aware of it but had me do a wipe of my hard drive and reinstall. It didn't work.

Don't update Ventura!!!!!
Ventura Bug fix 13.2.1 now has fixed the Pioneer drive problems - all is well again.

I got 2 Pioneer S13UBK drives from Amazon, but one came with fw 1.04 which currently is not Libre supported.
The other is fine on fw 1.03
As I am still in my 30 day return window,
I can get another S13UBK and hope it has 1.03 fw or I can get the BDR-XD08UMB-S
Of the 2 which has the better hardware for 4K ripping. The $35 price difference is not an issue.
Thanks

You will need to spend more for external enclosure for the S13UBK or a 5.25" drive space in your desktop. The BDR-XD08UMB-S is an external slim drive and comes with some basic software to play 4K movies. Since it is external you can easily use with multiple machines.

Send in the generated firmware dump for the unsupported drive so that support can be added then you won't need to do anything.
Cheers :D

I did send the .tgz dump right away, but still shows as unsupported, I can wait till the developers fix the issue if it is fixable, but I also don't want to miss the return window. So I will wait till the last day

Hello

Very strange, the japan versions BDR-S13J-X / BDR-S13JBK - there is no version other than 1.03 on the japan pioneer site

Hello! How did you manage to register on Pioneer Japan website to access firmware updates? They require to type the local Japanese address and phone number. Are you from Japan?
