LG BH16NS40 and LG WH16NS40 Issues [1/2 solved]

Post by BD445 »

So I went to patch my WH16NS40, and I done screwed up and it applied to my BH16NS40, and now it not longer is reading, and even after flashing it back it won't read DVD or blu-rays (let alone UHD)

I've read all the pinned posts and I'm racking my brain. any help would be helpful.

LG BH16NS40 in system direct connected

LG WH16NS40 (SVC Code NS50) (Man-date: 2020/09/04) (ROM VER: 1.05) housed in the Vantec NST-536S3-BK external housing.

any help would be welcome. thank you in advance

follow my dos flash video
and these steps.
Ok here's a summary of what you need to do

Try the recovery option in sdf tool if that fails do this:

Downgrade your drive to WH16NS60 1.00 with sdftool or makemkv command line
Full shutdown pull power plug or flip switch push power button for 10 seconds
Then reflash WH16NS60 1.00 again with the unlocked lg or Asus flasher
Full shutdown pull power plug or flip switch push power button for 10 seconds
Then boot in to your dosflash bottable and dump the firmware
Use the transfer tool to your correct firmware and flash it.
Buy a UHD drive from the guide and how to video maker: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 20&t=17831

First of all I'd like to start out by saying I thank you for all the pointers, but by the goddess Hylia! is this a convoluted way to get this working. I'm just about to give up

good new.

WH16NS40 is reading standard blu-rays and DVDs.

bad new.

BH16NS40 seems to be trash, it keeps giving me the 'no disc inserted' error.

I'm sadly having a hard time wrapping my little gray cells around the DOSflash, being in chronic pain and without proper medication is a nightmare. SO PLEASE bare with me, can you help guide me to getting these drives working again, the BH16 is sitting in my TT Tower900, and there isn't a snowball's chance of me getting it out of there any time soon. the WH is sitting pretty on my desk under my Samsung G9 in the Vantec NST-536S3-BK. sorry not trying to flex just painting a picture. I've got some time I won't have a proper nas for my media for at least a year, but I would still like to get this up and going as soon as I can. one foot in front of the other as they say.
