I have the same drive - did you end up flashing it on the Mac or did you have to do it in WIndows? (I have a Mac)
You can flash it on Mac see guide below

I have one of these as well, I had to check encrypted on the SD Flasher to make it flash(Change it from Red X to green checkmark), I have the newer A105 firmware.
Ripping my first UHD right now, thanks all for sharing your knowledge!

I myself have just gotten my hands on this drive (Manufacture date of Sept 2022, came with original firmware of A105) and flashed the ASUS-BW-16D1HT-3.10-WM01601-211901041014 firmware onto the drive using the SDF GUI Tool; but I am unable to open my 4K UHD drive. Anyone able to assist?

From reading around it seems like I should just return this and purchase something specifically supported =D, which I'll probably do if I don't figure this out in the next week or so and return it to Amazon.

No your issue is automatic sdf download is disabled or failed.
Any UHD drive is going to do this fro you either enable it or disable your firewall or geofilters for Russia

Ok, I do have "Enable Internet Access" checked in Preferences -> General. Is that what you mean by enable? Is there an IP I could allow or anything on where it gets the SDF from? It's working though! Thank you! Sorry, brand new to this.

Turns out it was definitely my geo-filtering on my Unifi Dream Machine. On the controller you want to go to settings (go to old settings view), Routing & Firewall -> GEOIP Filtering.

I have this exact drive, manufactured Sept 2022, and only have Mac (no access to Windows machine).
Anyone who successfully flashed theirs, on Mac, care to post the exact commands that need to be run to get this to work?

Thanks in advance.

I've had one of these drives for a while, and I was considering getting a new UHD drive but, of course, I'd love it if this drive ends up working with UHD discs. I've read the forums and I'm quite confused about what can and can't be flashed when it comes to this specific drive...here's a screenshot of my info..a bit of help, please?
email me about the pioneer autoflasher to see if it can be flashed. $25 USD

Looks like it's probably a BH16NS40 same as the asus desktop drive.
Weird that they changed the drive have it labeled as bh50n
I would probably flash it with asus 3.10 or WH16NS60 1.02.
UHD is probably possible on it but really no one has tried with that exact setup hopefully it's just a sticker change
I'm a newbie. I just installed the latest MakeMKV and this is the info it gave me. Is my firmware flashable for 4k UHD? My drive info below:

Thanks for the quick response. I'd like to try it myself. I've downloaded the SDFtool Flasher (v1.3.5) but I'm not sure what firmware I should flash it to. Any recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks Billy - Is there much a performance difference between let say the ASUS-BW-16D1H-U-A204 and HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.03? Just wondering if these options are similar to preferences in choosing a car like someone preferring a GM product over a Chrysler product? There appears to be a few choices available and I appreciated your input.

the WH16NS60 firmware has no sleep bug thats the main difference.
and asus firmware is way more inconsistent it could reach 8x speed or it may decide 2.2x is good.
