Optiarc external USB drive

Post by tlight »

Is this drive compatible with LibreDrive?

Manufacturer: Optiarc
Product: BD RW BD-5740H
Revision: 1.50
Serial number: 1039414L121

I am having issues with MakeMKV failing on all DVDs I try to rip. Getting the dreaded 'OS error - (ipc/send) invalid destiantion port' while reading..... error. I added a powered USB hub but still no go. I get the same error on about 10 DVDs I've tried. Haven't tried any Blu-rays yet.

I"m hoping to use LibreDrive parameters to limit the drive speed as that seems to be my issue... At least it seems so.

That's what I was afraid of. I wish I would have looked into this before I bought this drive... Can I get a recommendation for a new/used drive that has been shown to work well with MakeMKV and/or LD? I am using a Mac Mini so need an external drive. USB or Thunderbolt.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I have a big DVD and BD collection I want to get started on and I'm behind a locked gate at this point.

TIA

Tim.

That's a link to the big sticky UHD drives guide. It'll answer all your questions.
