Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The Pioneer BDR-212DBK isn't compatible with Pioneer's drive utility software, does not read triple-layer nor quad-layer Blu-rays, isn't UHD official, nor UHD friendly.

The Pioneer BDR-212UBK is compatible with Pioneer's drive utility software, reads triple-layer and quad-layer Blu-rays, is UHD official, but not UHD friendly.

What about the Pioneer BDR-2212? From what I understand, it is compatible with Pioneer's drive utility software, reads triple-layer and quad-layer Blu-rays, but is not UHD official. So before I order a 2212, does this mean it is UHD friendly and can rip my 4K/UHD Blu-rays?

No Pioneer drive is currently capable of ripping UHD.

"Official" Pioneer drives can read UHD with "Official" UHD software.

Some "Official UHD" Pioneer drives MAY be able to rip UHD in the future, but that is not certain.

If you're looking to buy a drive to rip UHD disks NOW, Pioneer isn't your brand of choice.
