(LibreDrive firmware support is not yet available for this drive (id=61645DFEFB5D))

Is there some kind of utility we can run to provide information to allow creation of a patch for a specific drive?
do you know the drive model number?

It's an LG drive. The Source field on MakeMKV says: BD-RE HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH14NS40 1.03

I am really confused. I have been spending hours looking over the forums to see how I can flash my LG NS40 from FW 1.04 to 1.02. I see that folks are mentioning to use the Mikes 3.10 flasher to cross flash the drive and then install the 1.02 or 1.00 fw on it. Someone asks how to get the 3.10 app and another person points to this topic. OK so I read the first page, downloaded the MK FW no flasher in it, uhm, nothing else on the first unless I don't have enough access to it?

Can someone tell me where I can get my hands on this?

Thanks,

That's not a very good thread. I read through that thread and many others and it wasn't until I hit the main index did a see a post (which I cannot find now) of someone saying they had success by cross flashing to 3.10 then restarting and flashing to 1.03 which I did and it worked flawlessly.

Theses other threads are ONLY great if you have an older LG drive firmware installed at the time of purchase. FW 1.04 and you have to cross flash first, but of course no one points this out nor do they make point notes on how to flash the WH16NS40 NS50 with factory 1.04 firmware. So it's unfortunately very CONFUSING!

If you have an LG WH16NS40 svc NS50 with factory 1.04 firmware installed and you have tired all these different flasher apps from these old threads but keep getting the "Write DRAM NG 05/26/03" error or something to this effect here is what I recommend you do.

Download the package that has the "BH14NS40_N1.00-A4_patched" application in it along with the different firmware's. You will need to use the "ASUS-BW-16D1HT-3.10-WM01601-211901041014" firmware first to flash your LG WH16NS40 then restart your computer, once your computer is restarted then flash the drive with the WH16NS40 1.02 or 1.03 firmware and you'll have to restart again. Your drive will be unlocked at this point and 4K UHD blurays will start working.

Before doing this my John Wich 2 4K UHD bluray wasn't recongized, it would not mount, after cross flashing my WH16NS40 I was able to mount the disc and rip it using makemkv.

Ouch
But it literally says how to solve your exact problem

Newer OEM Firmwares:

LG 1.04+ BU40N 1.03 Asus 3.10+ and similar
The newer OEM firmwares cannot be flashed easily due to the additional downgrade checks. If your drive has one of these firmwares, and there is no MK version of the same or higher number, you will have to sidegrade to Asus 3.10MKor LG 1.04MK. Then flash to your desired firmware if you don't want that one.

Followed immediately by links to all available FW packs & flash tools (~generic).

And then 'How To...' videos. A veritable 'one stop shop'.

Any benefits to the latest NS60 firmware? Or just a "let's break compatibility even further" update from LG?

i didn't notice anything different but it disables dos flash access and makes it harder to downgrade like all the new fw.
i was the dumper and tester for it.

I had a feeling that would be the case. I've zero desire to move off my 1.00 firmware unless there are marked improvements. You know, if they improved reading of problematic discs or something like that. Otherwise, it's nice to have for people who get these drives in the wild like those crazy resellers I hear tale about :p  but for those of us still on the older firmware, we'll pass thanks. :D

Well, it enables downgrade without cross-flashing. That's about it i guess...
