It is 100% possible technically. There is no LibreDrive support for it yet.
Just to confirm - we are talking about reading - something that reads the disc and saves the data to ISO image.

There are a few early SACD releases without encryption, readable by old Toshiba DVD-ROM drives - maybe this could be useful for a possible LibreDrive implementation.

On a somewhat similar note - how about a DVD-Audio ripping ability (not necessarily decryption) for MakeMKV?

In this case MakeMKV (V=Video) must be changed to MakeMKA (A=Audio) which is a other type of container :)

That would be amazing. There is a software available which converts SACD ISO images to DSD (https://www.sonore.us/iso2dsd.html). Can you give an estimation if and when such a feature would be available?

DVD-Audio discs are well covered: https://www.videohelp.com/software/DVD-Audio-Explorer.

It's old software but it works.

I used it years ago to obtain WAV files of the individual channels of a 5.1 DVD-A which I then muxed into DTS 96/24 file and subsequently converted it to a FLAC which I can play back through my Squeezebox in full 5.1 surround (DTS 96/24).

So I'm not the only one who thought of this... :-)

It would indeed be awesome.

Most components (incl. their open sources) are already there like:

Ripper incl. DST decoder
Audio format for Matroska storage

Maybe having the SACD ripping ability inside MakeMK, might be one step too astray. :?
Putting it into MakeMKA instead, alongside CD-DA, DVD-Audio & Blu-ray Audio ripping could validate a sister application.

I would be interested in contributing to a bounty for this feature -- even if it is just to read an SACD layer to an ISO file (without any transcoding or file system).

I am new to MakeMKV / LibreDrive: is there a place for proposing/supporting such a thing?

I would also be interested in SACD support for LibreDrive.

Another vote for SACD support. Currently the only mainstream supplier of players at a reasonable price is Sony which includes it in their Blu-ray players. It is more likely that they, as have LG and Samsung, will pull out of this market. There are alternative SACD only players on the market but they are not cheap.
I only have a small number of SACD discs, partly because I have sensed that I am in hole and should stop digging. Being able to rip them would give me a much more viable path.
