WH16NS40 But I think I'm in Trouble

Hello,

I bought an LG WH16NS40 off Ebay and MakeMKV shows information below. It appears I can watch and rip regular Blu Ray Discs, but not 4K UHD ones. Is there any fix?

Drive platform: MT1939
The "MT1939" drive platform means it can't be flashed to support UHD.

Nope. You got one of those fakes which is an old drive (usually from 2013, which yours is as the firmware on it is from 2013) with the older MT1939 drive platform. All they do is slap a new label on them!

I've learned that we can't trust the labels from ebay (esp china sellers, but in my case also a US seller). Those drives (WH16NS40 platform 1939, SVC code NS40) haven't been made since 2015 or so, and so a label that says eg in my case "2024" ends up being a fake label.

I would like to note that I have a MT1939 like this that I have been using for years. Not necessarily on UHD's. But works great for typical Blu-rays. So its not completely Junk.
