I had an external Verbatim 43890 and had limited success ripping with MakeMKV.
Unfortunately I contracted Sepsis and had my lower legs amputated.... I always thought it would be cool to have my blu-ray collection on a NAS, and be able to select a movie by clicking on the cover-art thumbnail ilmage on a Video Wall, like Kalidescape, but much more affordable (I'm on Disability and I'm finding iit very difficult to get employment as a wheelchair user.
Anyways, now it's significantly more difficult to get ho to my bookcase, get the blu-ray I want to watch, roll myself over to the BD player, insert the disc etc. etc.
I tried ripping a BD a couple of nights ago, and MakeMKV wouldn't recognize my Verbatim any more! I've always been very careful to NOT install firmware upgrades, so I dunno what's changed?!?!
Can anyone PLEASE recommend a 4k BD-RE drive that still works, out of the box, without installing past firmware or flashing the drive Cos I'm inexperienced at both.
I've always loved home video from VHS right up to 4k UHD, but now with my mobility problems, it's become my primary source of entertainment each day...
Sorry for the long post, but I've Googled, Amazoned and eBayed it to death and I'm still no closer

Thanx in advance for anyone who can give me the make and model that will work out of the box, for ripping to MKV, iso etc.
Cheers,
John
