Asus 16D1HT arrives today

Post by Phe0nix » Thu Oct 05, 2023 1:12 pm

I’ve read all over the forum and have seen new and outdated information. The ultimate guide if i interrupted it correctly says any firmware that ships on this drive will let me flash directly to 3.10MK from “All you need firmware pack’ ???

I read ver 3.02 came out in 2017 and 3.10 is from 2019 , so I’m expecting 3.11 . Not sure if there are any firmware versions beyond 3.11 or not.

Is it safe to just flash this new drive right to 3.10MK or do I need to downgrade and work my way up to a particular version?

Then there is the 2020 encrypted firmware. Not sure if 3.11 is encrypted or if there is a 3.12 or higher. So even if it’s encrypted can I still go straight to 3.10MK ?

You just go straight to it like the guide says
3.11 is encrypted
But I don't recommend the asus it's bad for Bill

Ive read comments by Mike:

“The absolute best “UHD-friendly” drive at the moment is ASUS BW-16* series. It is cheap, fast, excellent writer, reads all discs, and comes as internal or USB3 external.”

Also with Pioneer firmware revisions it’s a no go for now. You don’t like Asus and I don’t like LG so my choice was simple. I don’t want to return the drive and I don’t want to pay $100 over the cost of the drive to resource one.

Thanks Bill. Maybe I’ve read too much. I’ve also been on Redfox . There’s a guide there too that was reviewed by MakeMKV members before posting.
The Ultimate guide hasn’t been updated in 5 months
And it’s better to ask then to dive right in and try to fix it.

To others we’re referring the comment below from the Ultimate guide:

Asus BW-16D1HT on any Firmware directly to > Asus BW-16D1HT 3.10MK

Thanks again

Bad news the Asus is an LG with an Asus silk screen
And Mike's post about the Asus is like 5 years old or older.
So what if the guide has not been updated in 5 months nothing has changed for the LGs in years since 2020 with encrypted firmware
