Slot Load Drive Recommendations
I am setting up an Unraid NAS, and want to use the MakeMKV Docker to rip my media moving forward. My NAS case only supports slot load Bluray Drives so I need recommendations for ones that will support LibreDrive, suggestions?

Re: Slot Load Drive Recommendations
Pretty much only 1 is slot load and UHD it's the one I sell the xs07 flashed to xs07uhd the new stock UHD ones come with new fw that breaks libredrive so you pretty much have to get a pioneer through a seller until the flashing tools are released
But it's USB and I'm guessing you nas is not expecting a USB drive

Re: Slot Load Drive Recommendations
I am not sure if Unraid will detect a USB Blu-Ray Drive, not only that, I'd prefer something internal. My experience with USB Blu-ray drives is terrible, they are substantially slower than SATA ones.

There are no slot loading internal drives that are capable of ripping UHD discs.Leondarkfury wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 6:49 pmI am not sure if Unraid will detect a USB Blu-Ray Drive, not only that, I'd prefer something internal. The slot loading one I sell is the same speed as an SATA pioneer on UHD so no need to worry about that. Not sure about the unRAID thing.Leondarkfury wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 6:49 pmMy experience with USB Blu-ray drives is terrible, they are substantially slower than SATA ones.

Re: Slot Load Drive Recommendations
I don't know if I've ever seen a PC computer case that only supports a slot-load optical drive. Some weird desktop Macintosh computers had slot loading optical drives, but I doubt you're building an UnRAID system in one of those. What case is it?

The case I am using is a Fractal Design Node 804. Also, Unraid is the OS I am using to run a media server. I host my media collection on, a couple of gaming servers, an Audiobook Docker Container, and more recently MakeMKV. If I can't get a slot-load UHD drive, I guess I am stuck with standard blu-ray.

The pioneer I sell is 12.7 mm thick it might work.Leondarkfury wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 12:27 amThe case I am using is a Fractal Design Node 804. Just have a USB 3.0 internal header to USB C and your good I think unRAID will see the drive
Email me I'll send you photos of the drive taken apart so you can see if the mounting holes line up

Re: Slot Load Drive Recommendations
there is 1 problem now that i have taken it apart without the felt on the outer case it shoots the discs out lol
i wonder if other front bezels of slot loading drives will fit it seems to have spots for it to clip in might do some photo shop scaling to see if it will fit
but it kinda looks like the node 804 has the felt there already so maybe its not an issue
