LG (Vinpower) WH16NS58 with Firmware 1.V8

Post by KevinS72 » Fri Aug 12, 2022 11:50 pm

I have an ASUS BW-16D1HT and an LG WH16NS40 that I have flashed over to the latest MK firmware and they have been working fine.

I just purchased the Vinpower LG WH16NS58. It appears to have a newer 1.V8 firmware and LibreDrive doesn't support it yet.

For future LibreDrive support of this version would the LibreDrive developers be interested in getting a dump of this firmware before I mess with it, or do they already have what they need?

If they don't need this firmware dump, what is the best suggestion for LibreDrive support for this drive? Downgrade to the WH16NS58-1.V5 in the MK firmware pack? I thought I read in another post that recommended WH16NS60-1.03?

Thanks for any assistance and hopefully I didn't miss another post already referencing this drive and firmware version when I did my search. ;-)

I just noticed the firmware date... Bug in MakeMkv 1.17.1 for the year?

Drive info from MakeMkv:

but i dont think the stock version of your firmware will ever be supported it would need to be flashed to an MK of it

not a bug in makemkv LG is the bug shows like that in the hex editor too in the old days of flashing drives

Thank you. I guess I didn't pay close attention to the firmware date in that window before. :-) I will send an email to support with the question about if they need the stock firmware dump for a future MK update before I try to re-flash the drive. ;-)

Would you be able to dump it? Choose "save firmware" in SDFlasher: viewtopic.php?t=22896, that's all.

If you just want to use VPTools you can use the WH16NS58 1.V5 from the MK firmware pack. It also reads UHDs.

Could you help me to find the latest version? My Google-fu isn't that strong apparently. I believe it's v1.2.4.5

Sorry, I can't, there is no such option visible to me. Perhaps because I am a new user here. Let's do the other way around? My PMs should be open.
