LG BH16NS40 SVC: NS51 Firmware issue

Post by OpaKopalke » Fri Oct 15, 2021 9:18 am

Hi :D
thanks to MakeMkv Team for this awesome software.
This thread isn't asking support but more to share my experience with this drive.

I've bought two BH16NS40 (ROM Ver 1.05, SVC NS51, PD January 2021) recently and flashed one of them to WH16NS60 1.02 MK.
So no problems enabling LibeDrive mode. First I ripped some old DVDs with CSS (Stargate SG-1) and a FHD Bluray (Starwars 8).
This week I've got my first UHD BluRays Tenet and Matrix 1. Tenet ripped fine but Matrix had some issues.

After inserting Matrix it first looked fine and the drive showed up in windows like normal. But MakeMkv couldn't read the titles on the disc.
LibreDrive Mode is enabled and I've tried several firmwares: BH16NS40 NS50 1.05 MK, ASUS 16D1HT 3.10 MK, WH16NS60 1.02 MK
All had the same problem.
The solution I've found was downgrading to WH16NS60 1.01 MK
Is this a known issue for UHD Blurays with LibreDrives?

I've got a secound drive with the original encrypted firmware BH16NS40 1.05 NS51
But I couldn't dump it because SDF Flasher can only read the user data. Is there another way?

I don't think it's a hardware problem because downgrading fixed the read problems.
