LG WH14NS0 Sudden Drive Error

#1 Post by Pleiadian144 » Mon Jun 10, 2024 1:19 am

While attempting to rip a new 4K movie, I received this error:
Error 'OS error - The I/O device reported an I/O error' occurred while reading '\Device\CdRom0' at offset '33890168832'

Not sure if this is the hardware, software, or the disc. Maybe this has happened to someone else in the forum and I just missed it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is the drive internal, or external? A lot of external drives have limited power.

Does the error move with different rip attempts, or stay consistent? Consistent errors are often dirty or bad spots on the disk, and the drive tries REALLY HARD to read them... and the computer says its an error.

It must be a bad disk as it happens in the same place. The disc is brand new. The dive is external and it's about 3 weeks old. I don't have any issues with other discs.

Give the disc a good clean before trying again.
Cheers :D

I'm way ahead of you. The good clean method was tried before posting. I appreciate the help!
