Status: Possible, not yet enabled

#1 Post by jocke77 » Tue Jun 09, 2020 10:41 am

If I get
Using direct disc access mode
LibreDrive firmware support is not yet available for this drive (id=C32B1C6CC46F)
Titleset id 2 is invalid
DEBUG: Code 0 at !g|`?-JJCvH7_aDw8:213130904
Failed to open disc
What does it mean? As I understand it, LibreDrive can be seen as some kind of codec used to decode / decrypt the "police code". Does it mean that there is no way do rip this specific DVD?

Libredrive does not really help DVDs you have another problem if you can't open that dvd libredrive is more for Blu-ray aacs and UHD ,disabling buss encryption.
Buy a UHD drive from the guide and how to video maker: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 20&t=17831

Those are the only error messages I see. What could then be the problem?

It means please purchase another drive, one that works, Billy or I can help you with that if needed. Thank you.

Buying another drive is not an option. Any other suggestions are welcome.

If, for instance, VLC can show the movie, why can't makemkv handle it?

because MKV does more than VLC and is a lot more complex, I mean, VLC plays most dvds (just a matter of zone problems for a small number of them) , ripping is a lot tougher than playing, and MKV cannot handle a MKV non compatible drive, MKV is not a player like VLC

if the reply you got says it has to be changed for a MKV handling, it certainly must be changed, given the signature of the guy who answered you (jonghotti), it's no fun but... :(

and excuse my english which might be funny
please don't mention the quality of my english unless I'm obscure

Another suggestion is to use a different ripping program, one that supports that drive. MakeMKV obviously does not.

Sorry to ask, but I am confused by it all

I get “Using LibreDrive mode” then after that I get “Using direct disc mode”

Is it working right?

Normally you do not need libredrive enabled unit to rip dvds, as said above. MakeMKV should rip DVDs just fine. But he is getting that error, so his drive is not supported. He will have to get a supported one if he plans to use MakeMKV, for example ASUS BW-16D1HT rips DVDs even when it is not libredrive enabled I can confirm that.
