WH14NS40 reads UHD, makes backup but...

I have this drive and it is from 2015. It has never been updated and does read UHD discs and makes a backup. I used MakeMKV 1.15.1 to make the backup. However, when I use Open files on the discatt.dat file it reads the file (Opening files on harddrive at F:/To Video File/Dark Phoenix (4K MKV) but fails to open disc.
Since I don't get a Volume key error and the disc is old enough to have a Volume key by now and it is a LibreDrive I'm at a loss of why I can't open the backup and rip it. Any thoughts?

MT1959 hardware running 1.00 are notoriously flaky. This is one of those that most likely won't accept a firmware update. All bets are off with this drive based my experiences with 3 others.

1.02 has traditionally been the stable, original UHD friendly firmware. It may not take a flash though. I got no love from either of the 1.00s I had, nothing but trouble.

Since it already makes a backup copy with no errors shown, are you saying that the really are errors in the backup that only appear when trying to open the discatt.day file?

Well I did get it to flash to 1.03 now I have to borrow another 4K disk to see if that changed anything.

Well it did flash to WH16NS60 1.02 so now I have to get a disc to test it with. Thanks everybody for the help.
