The guide suggests:

WH16NS40 on any Firmware directly to > WH16NS60 1.02MK

I recommend using Marty's SDFtool Flasher since you are running Windows.

Thanks, found the flasher and the zip with firmware’s in the forums while waiting on a reply, last time for my pioneer it wasn’t posted for easy access, purchased an OWC Mercury Pro enclosure with drive included, supposed to have full support but it wouldn’t even start up a UHD in VLC, how pathetic these people are, bottom of the barrel sales I tell you that. The Java Script for VLC DVD menus is cool too, I like how make MKV work so far after purchase.

Looking for confirmation about the correct “Unlocked LG ODD Firmware Utility” for BH16NS40 dump

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to dump the firmware of my LG BH16NS40 (FW 1.03) before updating it, but the DevilsClaw flasher from GitHub does not work — it only lists drives and treats every parameter after -d as a drive name. So I assume this is the stripped version that cannot dump.
I’ve read in several threads that the correct tool to use is the Unlocked LG ODD Firmware Utility (sometimes called “Unlocked LG ODD Flasher”), but I can’t find a reliable source for it anymore.
Could someone please confirm what the legitimate version of this tool should look like?
Specifically:
the exact filenames included in the folder
the approximate size of the main EXE
what the GUI should show (buttons, fields, etc.)
how to verify that it’s the correct version that can actually read the flash
I’m not asking for a direct download link, just for confirmation so I can identify the correct tool and avoid fake or incomplete versions.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

If the firmware is dated 2020+ you cannot dump it. Only the cal data can be dumped and the easiest way is using SDFtool Flasher.
Cheers :D

Hi Marty,
thanks for the clarification!

Before I consider the paid UI version, could you please point me to the correct download link for the free SDFtool Flasher CLI version you mentioned?
I only need the basic functionality (dump cal data + flash DE firmware), so the CLI version would be perfectly fine for me.

Thanks again!

Just use the SDFtool Flasher GUI. You can find the download link in the first post of the SDFtool Flasher thread.
Cheers :D
