My new Asus drive died - now what? Not sold anymore

Post by AlbinoNinja »

hi,
In January I got my new ASUS-BW-16D1HT drive - but it graduately would not read blurays - only DVDs which are also getting harder to find. So I think the drive is dying rapidly.

Apparently the ASUS drive is no longer being produced or sold in any country in Europe willing to send to my Denmark. None of the other drives mentioned to rip Blurays are available either.
I do see some internal Lite-ON and no name bluray drives are still available.

Can any of these be flashed to rip blurays or is this option pretty much sunk?

Anyone else seeing the intenal bluray drives being removed from stock everywhere?

Thanks :)

Drives don't need to be flashed to rip blu-ray, only UHD. Any blu-ray drive can rip bluray although, depending on the drive chosen, it may/may not be able to have libredrive enabled.
Cheers :D
