Hello,
I am one of the seemingly many people who fail to read documentation and attempt to flash my BP50NB40 with the NB50 firmware. I quickly realized this was wrong and did not make a firmware backup because I'm *super smart* and didn't read how to do it.
After scouring the forum, I figured the best idea would be to make a post for a request for the stock firmware if someone on here has a functioning NB40, or has a copy of the stock firmware.
Another idea I had was seeing if someone was able to edit the BP50NB40-NB50 v1.00 (or v1.01) firmware to force the drive to read as an NB40 drive. The firmware update tool provided by Hitachi/LG reads my drive as a NB50 and allows me to install stock firmware onto it, so I would assume it would let me do the same if the firmware (even if the firmware is incorrect for the device) read as NB40. I have tried this myself, but I'm not very good with programming and stuff so the most I could think to do is change the 2 instances of "NB50 SVCCode" in the firmware to NB40. This didn't work as the all the flashing tools error out and won't let the install go any further.
I'd appreciate any and all input on this issue since I would love to not have a paper weight anymore.

I did try this, but the recovery option doesn't revert it back to the stock firmware for me.
