Still need help to get LibreDrive working

Post by BladeRunner2019 »

Hi guys.
I have read most of the LibreDrive info on this forum, but I'm still having trouble to understand it completely.
I have ripped many UHDs already without LibreDrive, but now I wanna try to get it, so that I never have to worry again that a new AACS version could brick my drive.

Here is the info MakeMKV gives me for my drive:
Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/sr0
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BC-12D2HT
Revision: 3.00
Serial number: SIK9AH29G594
Firmware date: 2115-12-09 11:47
Bus encryption flags: 1E
Highest AACS version: 35

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible (with patched firmware)
Drive platform: MT1959
Harware support: Yes
Firmware support: No
Firmware type: Original (patched version available)
Firmware version: 3.00
DVD all regions: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw data read: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw metadata read: Possible (with patched firmware)
Unrestricted read speed: Possible (with patched firmware)

If I understand correctly, I need a flasher tool first. Which one would you recomment for my drive?
The ASUS_ODD_FW_Changer_(Modified) (24.08.2019).zip? Or is there a newer flash tool?

Then I need the actual firmware? So I downloaded the mk-firmware-pack-20191206.zip.
Is it the correct one?

Then what do I do?
Do I just need to open the flasher tool and choose the firmware for my drive and then it downgrades the drive's current firmware (in my case 3.00)?
What firmware version will be on my drive then?

Thank you in advance for your help!

You have to unpack the firmware to a folder and the pick the right firmware for your drive in the ASUS flasher. This is firmware version 3.11 as you can see in the file name. It will only take a few seconds and the your drive has the friendly 3.11 MK firmware. You have to reboot afterwards and run makemkv to see the result. Should now say patched.

The native flashing is somehow tricky. As an alternative make an USB drive with Windows to boot from and put the necessary files - flasher and firmware - on it.
