Hi all,
this is my first post. I read a lot already, but couldn't find specific answers to my questions.
Situation: I have a brand new BH16NS55 FW 1.05_212006181342 and in the end I want to put a LibreDrive FW on it.
Now my questions:
1) Before I start flashing a drive, I usually dump the FW of the drive. However, SDFtool-flasher-GUI yields only a 70kB file and using SDFtool command line it says: "Error: full dump is disabled in this firmware version. DEBUG: Code 4279201797 at [gibberish address]. Command produced error code 0x8f0f7005.". With dump auto, a 70kB dump is produced. This is also probably the same 70kB dump MakeMKV asked me to send in to help development (which I did).
2) I read that I could use the patched DosFlash using a 32bit Windows Install to obtain a full 16Mb dump, is that correct although the firmware is probably encrypted? Would such a full dump help me (or anyone else) anything?
3) Does flashing via SDFtool keep my laser calibration data?
4) As the current firmware is encrypted and (from what I read) downflash-protected, would I first need to flash the "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BH16NS55-1.05-NM00400-212004211049.bin" from the MK-firmware archive? Or would I go straight to crossflashing the "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin" from the All-you-need-firmware-package?
5) If first going to the same but fixed 1.05FW, the MK-firmware archive only contains 1.05_212004211049 and not 1.05_212006181342 (which I have at the moment) so this already seems to be a downgrade. Could this create a problem?
Best regards
weaker

Re: Questions about encrypted firmware flashing
Thank you! That was quick. But what about my question
3) Does flashing via SDFtool keep my laser calibration data?
I assume this is a factory calibration for my specific drive.
And would I need to backup the full dump with an external EEPROM-Flasher as only option?

Re: Questions about encrypted firmware flashing
Yes it keeps the cal data if it didn't your drive wouldn't see any discs
You don't need to backup at all this is flashing the firmware the same way the factory flashers are

Re: Questions about encrypted firmware flashing
Sorry for the late reply, couldn't make it earlier.
Flashing via SDFtool-GUI (with enc activated) went smoothly without error. Drive reports itself now as WH16NS60 on boot.
MakeMKV reports the drive as LibreDrive without limitations.
Thanks to everybody involved!
