BD-RE BP55EB40 and Updating Failure #5

Post by Claus »

Hello @all,

I ve already searched in the forum, but just can not go on. Maybe you can help.

I have the following drive (connected via Sata on W8.1) with these values:

Laufwerksinformation
OS-Gerätename: I:
Produzent: HL-DT-ST
Produkt: BD-RE BP55EB40
Revision: 1.00
Serienummer: MDAG71C0252
Firmware-Datum: 2115-04-22 15:34
Markierungen der Bus-Verschlüsselung: 17
Highest AACS version: 70

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.00
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Possible, not yet enabled

I'm doing the following:
I start the ASUS_ODD_FW_Changer_(Modified) with this firmware (i tried both): HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.02-NM00700-211811011016.bin and HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP55EB40-NB50-1.01-NM00200-211711231626.bin. And unfortunately I always get the same error message namely "Updating Failure #5"

What am I doing wrong?

Another question:

If I would buy a new Bluray drive, what would you recommend regarding the possibility to flash it with Libredrive and UHD?

Thank you for your help and havea nice weekend.

You should check if your drive really has a sevice code N50 since it's very old (2015). On the other side it's already working with Libredrive even w/o the firmware patch. So just leave it alone.

If you look for a new one consider the BH16NS60 if you work only with Makemkv. If you also use AnyDVD consider the BH16NS55 and flash it with the ASUS firmware.
