Okay so I’m getting a LG WH16NS60 from Microcenter tonight because I borked my older S40 (tried upgrading the firmware from 1.00 and makemkv could no longer detect a disc in it, tried a cross flash too...and yeah I’m done...also it was from 2014). Honestly I just wanted faster ripping with Libredrive.
Anyway I was wondering:
1. How much faster is ripping a blu-Ray or dvd vs the s40?
2. Is it quieter (it’s not important I’ve just seen a few comments mention it)?
3. For the moment 4K isn’t a big deal (I have a 4K tv, but no player), but if it does that then that’s cool, how can I tell if it can do this, without a disc?
4. Is there any reason I’ll need to flash the firmware after installing it tonight? My main goal is ripping BR/DVD to use with Plex. Is there any none 4K benefit to updating the firmware with Libredrive.
5. Any model number revision or serial number range I should watch out for? I don’t want any speed or ripping restrictions.
Thanks! Love this program so much. It makes watching my films so much easier.
So I’m getting a LG WH16NS60 tonight. Some quick questions
